We are looking for a Senior Marketing Manager to join the Koru Kids team. Your mission will be to make becoming a Koru Kids nanny a no brainer for every part-time job seeker, student and older person with some extra time on their hands.
You'll be creating an inspiring employer brand to encourage students, creative part-timers, freelancers, mums with grown up kids and others to join us on our mission to help families flourish.
A Nanny isn't a job our childcarers think of as a go-to but it's one they love. One that gives them purpose, allows them to laugh every day and still keep time for their passions, studies or friends. Our challenge is huge and we need you to supercharge our supply acquisition so we can help thousands more families get the flexible childcare they so desperately need.
You will build brand awareness using earned, owned and paid channels, developing strategies and tactics that compliment our performance marketing activities. We are rich in insights, our brand strategy is clear and we are just about to launch a new visual identity. The tools and infrastructure are there for you to harness and amplify using your creative thinking and marketing instincts.
You will be part of a growing, fast-paced, scale-up team who are incredibly focused on achieving our mission – to build the world’s best childcare service. This is a rare opportunity to join and make impact at Koru Kids at a pivotal moment of acceleration.
What’s more, the service we have built is amazing. Well, we would say that, but our families and nannies say it too – they use words like ‘love’ and ‘life-changing’ to describe what we do. Koru Kids is game-changing for working families who are crying out for balance and support. You will be an integral part of bringing that solution to even more people.
Why this role is important to Koru Kids:
Finding good quality childcare is a painful process for families. We exist to change this but to do that we need to attract the very best nannies. People who still love to build a lego tower, dress up as pirates and bake up a storm in the kitchen.
When children are cared for in the best way possible, parents have more space to work or just catch a breath and the whole family can flourish.
And now about you:
You know what strong and beautiful creative looks like and you work relentlessly to develop it. You have a keen eye for design to make sure we’re always consistent and looking our best. You’ll work with a team of freelancers to bring your ideas and key messages to life.
You’re experienced in crafting and executing multi-channel campaigns including performance marketing, PR, partnerships, influencer marketing, outdoor advertising and podcasts. You know how to optimise the mix to drive the best results.
You will build out our communications arsonry with testimonials, case studies and other content that can be used across all our touchpoints to build a compelling story of why people should work for us
You're a strong copy writer and can draft press releases, write Facebook copy and craft beautiful emails with ease.
You’ve worked in a startup or scale up environment so you know how to test, learn, iterate and make big things happen on smaller budgets.
You are a structured and logical thinker. You love to get into data to find answers to your burning questions, optimise channels and get insights out
You should also be:
Tremendously ambitious - This opportunity is what you decide to make it. We want brave, curious individuals who question "how might we?" and inspire the rest of the business to do the same.
A brand advocate - When a brand gets under your skin you can’t help but live and breath it
Buzzing with ideas- You expose yourself to other brands and peers and are constantly generating different ideas to help us accelerate further
A leader- You’ll be managing a junior member of the team and working closely with the rest of the acquisition squad who are focused on family demand and expanding our service to the UK. You’ll inspire, coach and grip ambiguous situations so they can develop and deliver
Humble - You take ownership of successes and mistakes. You value experiences and feedback that helps you learn.
Fast-paced - Your favourite speed is extra fast. We don’t have months to plan campaigns and we need to deliver every day to drive the desired growth. You feel at ease when things move quickly.
A typical day
9am - Grab a cup of tea and join the company-wide (video) standup to hear what’s been going on across the business.
9.10am - You quickly check the application stats dashboard from yesterday - one of our channels has taken a hit so you take a look and figure out what optimisations need to be made to boost performance for today.
10am - You review a campaign you launched a few days ago on Facebook and it looks like some of the creative is getting low click through rates. You confirm with the performance agency and set some time aside later in the day to come up with a new concept to try.
10.30am - You're in campaign planning mode. Going through channels that have tried before. Recapping on the customer insights to figure out what channel-mix will work best to supercharge the acquisition numbers next quarter.
12pm - You hop on a call with an outdoor agency who specialise in student media. You're trying to work out how much availability they have for key months and whether the locations are right for where we need nannies.
1.30pm - A welcome break after a hectic morning! You grab a sandwich and then head out to the park with your favourite podcast to make the most of the good weather!
2.15pm - Copywriting o’clock! Your number crunching on Google Analytics last week showed that the blog article about the best part-time jobs in London has been driving some great traffic to the website, and so you set about writing the next two installments in the series. It’s sometimes a struggle to balance a really compelling tone of voice and high keyword density, but it’s nothing a strong cup of post-lunch coffee can’t fix…!
4.30pm - It's the weekly marketplace balance meeting where you get together will the team to work out whether the supply and demand levels are correct and what actions need to be taken to ensure we keep growing fast.
5.30pm - You check in with the PR team to triple check they have everything they need to start pitching your latest story before you sign off for the night. Now, time to relax and enjoy the evening!
Ideally we'd like...
5+ years of excellence in marketing roles, Experience working for a top scale-up brand
Important things to know...
Timing: We'd like to have the right person join the team ASAP.
Flexibility: The role can be done flexibly. It can also be part-time if you like, although in that case you are likely to need to have highly relevant experience as you'll have less time to learn things from scratch. We welcome parents and would love to discuss any other working arrangements that make it possible for you to be part of our team.
Salary: The salary range for this role is £45,000-55,000, depending on experience. This is because the less relevant experience you have, the more support you'll need, which we'll need to also pay for. If you're part-time, this will be pro-rated. We also have some awesome benefits - among these is the ability to have a Koru Kids nanny for half price if you are a parent! (please note, we are currently only in London, with likely expansion in 2021).
Location: You can do this role from anywhere in the UK and earn the same salary as you would if you were in London (where we are based). We welcome applications from people living outside London. Outside the UK is more complicated as it has tax and other implications, so we are unlikely to hire someone living outside the UK.
About us
Koru Kids is building the world’s best childcare service, starting in London. We believe that every family should have the perfect childcare for their family to flourish.
We’re growing like crazy, are backed by fantastic investors, including top venture capitalists and business angels such as Michael Pennington the founder of Gumtree, and have won a ton of awards for our technology, people and social impact.
Our culture is informal, hard-working and kind. The team is an A++ when it comes to talent but our "no dickheads" rule means we're also a humble and supportive bunch.
We’re also really committed to working with integrity, doing the right thing and building a company we are truly proud of.
We have always promoted flexible working and are currently working remotely but we will have the option of an office space to work from next year.
We can't fully capture what working at Koru Kids feels like, but here's our best attempt to give you a sense…. Every new starter in the Koru Kids team meets with our founder and CEO Rachel in their first week, to talk about our company values and what they really mean in practice. We recorded one of these sessions, and here it is. In this recording, Rachel meets with Adam, a software developer on Day 5 of his job with Koru Kids. She outlines our commitments to transparency, quick decisions, humility, continuous personal growth, recognising that we are humans and not robots, respecting each others' time, and our no dickheads policy.
